The Austin Rattler MTB is a mass-start off-road mountain bike race held at Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas, about an hour northwest of Austin. It is produced by Life Time as part of the Leadville Race Series qualifier circuit, and it is an official qualifier for the Life Time Leadville Trail 100 MTB in Colorado. The 2026 edition runs Saturday, November 14.
The course is a lap of Texas Hill Country granite, singletrack, and fire road, offered at three distances: 20 miles, 40 miles, and 60 miles. Entry is $120 for the 20-mile, $135 for the 40-mile, and $150 for the 60-mile; racers under 18 take $30 off any distance. Minimum age on race day is 12 for the 20-mile, 14 for the 40-mile, and 16 for the 60-mile.
Race morning: parking opens at 5:00 a.m. and MTB packet pickup runs 5:30-7:30 a.m. The 60-mile goes off in three corrals at 7:15, 7:18, and 7:21 a.m. (seeded by prior placing, with new participants in corral 3), the 40-mile at 7:30 a.m., and the 20-mile at 7:35 a.m. Riders must begin their final lap by 12:30 p.m. and clear the course by the 3:30 p.m. official cutoff; the 60-mile must be completed in eight hours or less. Awards are at 1:00 p.m. for the 20- and 40-mile and 3:15 p.m. for the 60-mile.
Leadville qualifier coins go to 60-mile finishers only. A minimum of 35 coins are awarded at this event, distributed by a combination of overall and age-group placing plus a lottery draw among finishers, so a coin is not guaranteed by finishing alone.
The Rattler runs as a weekend rather than a single race: a free Little Rattlers kids race is held Friday, November 13 at 4:00 p.m., the MTB races run Saturday, and the trail running races run Sunday. On-site camping, live music, and barbecue are part of the event. All distances register through a single Let’s Do This portal, linked from the race page on austinrattler.com.

The Leadville Race Series is a family of high-altitude endurance races based in Leadville, Colorado, a former silver-mining town sitting at 10,152 feet. It began in 1983, when 45 runners set out on a 100-mile course through the surrounding Rocky Mountain terrain. That race became the Leadville Trail 100 Run, nicknamed the Race Across the Sky, and the series has since grown into a slate of mountain bike and trail running events at distances from 10K to 100 miles.
The series is owned and produced by Life Time, Inc. Its Colorado events run from June through August each year: the Leadville Trail 100 MTB, the Leadville Trail 100 Run, the Silver Rush 50 MTB and Silver Rush 50 Run, the Leadville Trail Marathon and Heavy Half, the Leadville 10K, and the three-day Leadville Stage Race. Life Time also produces the Austin Rattler weekend at Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas, which serves as an official qualifier for both 100-mile flagship races.
Entry into the two 100-milers is not first-come, first-served. Riders and runners get in through a lottery that opens December 1-15 for the following August, through a training camp or coaching package, through a charity partner slot, or by earning one of the qualifier coins awarded at designated qualifier races (a minimum of 35 coins are distributed at each qualifier, by a mix of performance ranking and lottery draw). Registration for the Colorado races typically opens in January.
