MAN CAMP 2027

MAN CAMP is an annual men’s off-the-grid camping weekend in southwest Ohio, founded in 2015 by Brian Tome of Crossroads Church in Cincinnati. It is a faith-based event and the organizers say so plainly: the weekend is built around four main-tent sessions, includes solitude time and baptisms, and the 2027 edition is led by Tome with guest speaker Jon Tyson of Church of the City in New York. They also state that men who do not attend church or are not religious are welcome, and that it is not a conference — “you’ll be challenged physically, mentally, and spiritually.”

The format is primitive camping. Participants hike roughly a mile into camp on the Friday afternoon carrying everything they need — tent, sleeping bag, camp chair, headlamp, water, layers — and there is no electricity, no refrigeration and no going back to the car. Every man is placed in a unit of eight to ten, grouped by zip code and led by a trip captain, and the unit camps, cooks, competes and solves problems together for the whole weekend. One meal is provided; the unit packs the rest between them. The sequence runs sessions, fire time, solitude, an all-camp lunch, games and free time, then pack-up and the hike out.

Arrival is between 4:00pm and 6:30pm Eastern on Friday 8 October, with every member of a unit present before the hike in; camp ends around 1:00pm Eastern on Sunday 10 October. The exact location is not published — the organizers give only southwest Ohio, about 45 minutes from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). Registration is 18 and over and men only, and the organizers state there are no refunds after registration; cancelled places go to a waiting list. Alcohol is present at camp, which the organizers note for anyone in recovery.
