Urban Iron is a hybrid fitness race series that pairs an 8-mile self-navigated run through a city with prescribed workout circuits at three partner gyms, staged as a single-day timed race. This is its Fall 2026 New York race, held Sunday 13 September 2026 with a 7:00 a.m. EDT start.
There is no marked course. Athletes start at the Rivian space in the Meatpacking District and make their own way to three gyms in a fixed order, completing the required workout at each: Circuit 1 at The Training Lab in Midtown, Circuit 2 at The Yard in Williamsburg, and Circuit 3 at True North Training in Williamsburg. The finish line is at Rivian Williamsburg, where the organizer runs ice baths, recovery stations, a live DJ and brand activations. Urban Iron publishes route maps ahead of race day and expects entrants to study them; total running distance is 8 miles across Manhattan and Brooklyn. The organizer states this is its largest race to date, with 250+ athletes.
Entry is individual and timed by bib, and athletes are seeded into heats using the estimated 8-mile pace they give at registration. Registration is handled on Forte and costs $140 for race entry or $165 for race entry plus a photo package, which covers professionally shot race-day photos taken at several points along the course. The registration form collects a unisex T-shirt size, age on race day, gender identity, estimated mile pace, whether you intend to race competitively, and any adaptive-athlete requirements including whether a running guide is needed. Accepting the event waiver is a condition of entry.
Urban Iron publishes no minimum age and no qualifying standard for this race; entry is open while spots last, and the organizer states spots are limited. Its own guidance is that athletes running sub-8-minute miles finish in under 1.5 hours; winning times at previous Urban Iron races have ranged from about 1:04 to 1:12 for men and about 1:15 to 1:25 for women.
