Urban Iron is a hybrid fitness race series that runs a single-day, city-centre race combining an 8-mile run with prescribed workout circuits at three partner gyms. There is no marked course: athletes navigate their own route between check-in points and must reach the three gyms in a set order, completing the required workout at each, before crossing a finish line hosted at a Rivian space with ice baths, recovery stations, a DJ and brand activations. Races are individual and timed by bib, and entrants are seeded into heats using an estimated 8-mile pace they supply at registration. The organizer describes the event as an unsanctioned urban race and as a moderately to highly difficult fitness challenge; it advises that faster athletes running sub-8-minute miles finish in under 1.5 hours, and winning times at past races have been between roughly 1:04 and 1:12 for men and 1:15 and 1:25 for women. Fields are capped at roughly 200 to 250 athletes per race. Previous editions listed on the brand’s own site are New York in June 2025, New York in October 2025, Austin in January 2026, New York in April 2026 and Chicago in June 2026, with Los Angeles in October 2026 billed as its fourth expansion city.
